Russian cop gives rude man trauma

A RUSSIAN policeman shot and wounded two passengers during rush hour on the Moscow metro after a row about giving up a seat for a pensioner.
The incident occurred when an off duty plain-clothes policeman reprimanded a fellow passenger on the metro for not giving up his seat to the elderly person, said interior ministry spokesman Oleg Yelnikov. "The conflict between them started on these grounds," Yelnikov told AFP.
Both men then got off the train, with the male passenger taking out a gas spray and spraying the policeman in the face. The policeman, who works at the ministry's department of public security, "acting in self-defence, took out a traumatic weapon," the spokesman said.
The 'traumatic weapon' is a new state-of-the-art weapon being trialed by Russian police that fires a number of quick succession small sonic booms that make all within earshot fall to their knees and weep, resulting in mass immobilisation. "It is really quite an effective weapon and one that we hope will help us in our war against illeagal movement. While it is regrettable that the policeman needed to use his weapon, thankfully only the offender and another person were within range of the' traumatiser'." Yelnikov added, "If the weapon had been discharged in the train, all those passengers would still be crying!"
When asked by a local journalist if the 'Traumatic Weapon" was perhaps too forcefull Yelnikov replied "Yes, thankfully it is very effective. Trials so far have been positive."
The Russian Police Force expect to have every member equipped with a 'traumatiser" by mid-year.
